During a one-month residency in April, 2024 at CasCaDas ArtSpace in Barcelona, Conway created a series of responsive drawings, site-specific installations, and activations within the space. Her works featured motifs inspired by her travels  rendered in her distinct drawing style to more experimental pieces. Conway played with compositional glimpses on the paper’s surface, mapping elements from various sources—napkins, carved marble pieces found on the street and sketches made in situ at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.

Her time at CasCaDas was punctuated by Saint Jordi Day, Catalonia’s celebration of literature and romance. Potted rose bushes, dried rose petals and romantic imagery were featured in the window installations that were manipulated day-to-day as she produced work.

On Saint Jordi day, Conway drew portraits of people who entered the space, gifting a copy to them and hanging a copy of the portrait in the studio. Other drawings were directly inspired by a hailstorm that descended on Barcelona on the eve of Saint Jordi Day. Fusing the sight of hail splashing into puddles and sensations of rest and relief.
